Welcome

What is home? Home is a workshop orientated festival for Brighton and Hove in 2008. Home takes place over a long weekend from Thursday 29th May- Sunday 1st June 2008, assisted by many dedicated, experienced and skilled individuals. The workshops are led by emerging and established artists, businesses and individuals from our communities.Home will be happening throughout the city, in our Ship Street, in our smallest church, in our hottest hotels, in our chip shops, in our favourite pubs, in the kitchens of our restaurants, in our secret clubs, in our loftiest offices and warmest houses.
The week will hold workshops that move between three groups. Being at home in the city, at home in the house, at home in the body. We will be venturing into the unhomely and inventing new homes. Some questions we might ask are, what are our ideas of Home? Do we feel we own our city, our house, our body? How do our ideas fit and contrast with other people we live close to? During this week we forget about answers and look towards more questions and more actions.
We offer the chance to explore, experience, intake, interact, engage, connect, find, be still, produce, learn, create and a whole lot more. The week is organized so we can choose which workshops we want to, we can dare ourselves out of our homes or back inside as much as we like. We will be in different kinds of homes, from practical guides and thoughts on working at home, getting in touch with the body via the quality of movement, using DIY as a tool for personal development, money as a guide for our love lives or reaching new earthy depths with a tour in the cemetery.
Home welcomes all artists, professionals, businesses, badgers and communities. Home is produced by artists Bryony Henderson and Maggie Tran.
